Brothers | Photography tip #1

Brothers, could say so much about them…  mostly positive ;) My younger brothers are gallant! :) They will not let me open a door, carry a heavy bag, or enter my hotel room without first scanning the closets and under the bed for unwanted intruders(As I have found this last week. Very funny and thoughtful) =)!
 Photography tip #1:  Learn to take a good picture without editing. 
This is actually something I have been working on the last few weeks. Although knowing how to appropriately edit/enhance a picture is important, learn to take a great picture on the camera and not an OK picture with the hope of fixing it in the editor later. Something I have been really guilty of in the past! Some one mentioned this to me a while ago and then another friend last month said the same thing. So I took it as a sign from the Lord to stop editing and start learning how to take a picture. :) I am always praying that the Lord would grow me in my photography and He is always faithful to do so!
The bellow pictures were taken in RAW and transferred straight to JPG without editing. Learn to shoot in Manual, play around with your white balance, and manual focus! Shooting in manual is so fun once you get the hang of it!! :)

Home | REALLY Random

After 847 miles and 16ish hours on the road I am home!! Back with the natives/little people and so thankful for the Lord’s protection during the last week of travel! :) “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.”

While I was away my 4 youngest brothers and sisters(with lots of help from my older sister) cleaned the work shop for me…. if you would have seen the shop before they cleaned you would understand what a big deal this is. We left the shop in total ruins last week!!  Not only did they clean the it they also left us treats at each of our work stations :) Sweet!! On my desk was a pack of Princess Gummy thingies(have no idea what you call them)… :) They just happen to be one of my weaknesses though I have never had them in the form of princesses before ;)

San Antonio Randomness

Just finished a great 3 day conference in San Antonio, Texas! Wish I would have taken more pictures (only took 14 pictures in the last 72 hours) but here are a few :)

My Sister | Business Photography

 Things have been extremely busy around here as we prepare to leave for the Vision Forum SAICFF! Can’t believe it is here so soon. We have so much work to do in order to leave but, Lord willing, we will get it done in time :)My sister, Micah released her Spring 2012 collection of whimsical, vintage inspired hair accessories a few days ago on her site, Garlands of Grace!! Just couldn’t help sharing!

I have been snapping pictures for Micah’s business almost 6 years now (started out with a very old and borrowed point-and-shoot :) and so thankful to the Lord for the ability to work with my family in all their business ventures! Today I went to the Beach…

Well, not really but every time I looked at this picture I could hear the tide rolling in, feel the warm sand under my toes, and smell the salt water!
Thank you, Ruth for the lovely pictures!! I had mentioned to Ruth how much I wished I were at the beach… so she brought the beach to me!! :)

Highlight

At the moment I am going through 2 books in the Old Testament (Psalms & Isaiah) and 2 in the New Testament (Colossians & Revelations). So, this morning I opened Colossians 3 with my highlighter ready and started to read. By the end of Colossians 3 I had highlighted the ENTIRE chapter :) One of those chapters that is just so jammed packed full of goodness I couldn’t help but highlight it all! Go read  Colossians 3!

Sunny and 70°… in January! | Randomness

Just about this time last year we were tramping through a surprise 4 foot snowfall and single digit temperatures in my corner of the world. So, you can guess my surprise to spend the afternoon OUTSIDE without a jacket… in January!! What a blessing. Don’t know who could keep indoors during weather that great :) 
Any one else experiencing wonderfully warm weather?

Can’t wait for Spring to bring color!! But until then I am enjoying finding beauty in the winter landscape!
