WEEK 12 MILEAGE FORM
…………………………
The above is a video that has inspired me over the years and continues to! Here is a little background story for those who have never heard of “team Hoyt”:
As a result of oxygen deprivation to Rick’s brain at the time of his birth, Rick was diagnosed as a spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy and would never be able to talk or walk. Dick and Judy were advised to institutionalize Rick because there was no chance of him recovering, and little hope for Rick to live a “normal” life. Rick’s parents said “no” to the recommendation to institutionalize him. In the spring of 1977, Rick told his father that he wanted to participate in a 5-mile run. Far from being a long-distance runner, Dick agreed to push Rick in his wheelchair and they finished all 5 miles, coming in next to last. That night, Rick told his father, “Dad, when I’m running, it feels like I’m not handicapped.” This realization was just the beginning of what would become over 1,000 races completed, including marathons, duathlons and triathlons (6 of them being Ironman competitions). Also adding to their list of achievements, Dick and Rick biked and ran across the U.S. in 1992, completing a full 3,735 miles in 45 days.
Why does this inspire me? Many reasons! :) Besides the determination + dedication of the father and Dick’s love for his son, I think the greatest inspiration I find from this story is it is a perfect example of God’s strength made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness”! So, when the going gets tough and you are ready to give up, remember…. the same God who has given strength to this father-son team to achieve the “impossible” is the same God who daily strengthens us both physically and spiritually[Isaiah 40:29]! Spring100 is coming to an end. Just 7 more days and we will be crossing this challenge’s finish line! But for those of us who are saved by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the call to run with endurance will continue on and we can do so as we find our strength in the Lord! “For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.” Psalm 48:14

WEEK 10 MILEAGE FORM
…………………………
Here we are rounding the corner to the finish line of the SPRING100! Wow… way to go to you all. ?? Each of you has made fantastic progress and it’s such a blessing to see your determination! A couple of you are actually nearing the 200 mile mark for the Spring100. That is truly fantastic!!! How was week 10 for you? I really enjoyed week 10. The walks and a couple runs I took were so refreshing!!
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” Hebrews 12:1
QUESTION: Have you thought about the fact that weight and sin mentioned in Hebrews 12 are 2 different things? :) Random question, I know! ;) I was reminded the other day of an instance a few year ago. It was early January, I was dealing with a bit of discouragement, and for some reason when I woke up one morning I just felt like I needed to go out for a run! Mind you, I hadn’t run in 10 years so the urge to run wasn’t natural. ? For me, it was to experience what it felt like to run and how it would be to physically run with endurance and I knew this would help me as I compared the actual physical run with my spiritual run! It was a super cold morning so I put on my running shoes and bundled up[y’all I am a “cold weather wimp” ;]. 2 long sleeve thermal tops, puffer vest, a heavy jacket, gloves, ear warmers, long exercise pants… you name it, I wore it! ;) I looked like the abominable snow woman in South Texas??[click here for visual]. These were all what I considered necessary garments for running in the “bitter cold”! As I took off running I didn’t make it very far before I found these “comforts” were actually weights holding me back from fully running! They were literally entangling me and I had to throw off the extra weight of the jacket, gloves, and hat in order to better run!
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 4:31
I learned 2 things that morning run! 1.) I couldn’t physically run to save my life ? & 2.) The weight mentioned in Hebrews 12:1 was just like my heavy layers! You see, my heavy winter jacket wasn’t a bad thing and it brought me a lot of comfort BUT it was holding me back from running. The word weight mentioned in Hebrews 12:1 means “a burden or something so heavy and cumbersome that it impedes a runner from running his race as he should.” This weight may be “things” that in themselves may not be sins but hold us back from running the spiritual race to our fullest[if y’all remember, traditions -which seemed to be good things to them- were weighing the Galatians down when Paul had to reprimand them— Read Galatians 4]. We will be faced with both weight and sin in this life that will need to be thrown off in order to run this spiritual race! It will be a life-long pursuit of spiritual purging. :) The Weight can come in packages that may not be weight for others but is for you…. It is something that is literally pulling you back when you are trying to run full force forward! The weight can be an actual thing like the amount of time you spend on the internet or on social networking? It could be the books you’re allowing yourself to read or the magazines you pick up at the grocery store or some form of entertainment, a job you work, or the places you allow yourself to hangout? But weights can also be overly-busy schedules, routines, attitudes, goals, habits, thoughts, aspirations, or future dreams which are not necessarily bad but are keeping you from setting your eyes on Jesus and running with endurance! Or the weight could come in other forms.
“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.” 2 Tim 2:4-5
The Holy Spirit is urging you and me to take a good look at our lives and remove/lay aside everything that weighs us down and keeps us from a life of obedience[2 John 1:6]. We must be honest with ourselves and with God. Remember, there is nothing done in secret[whether thought or deed] that He does not know[Ps 139:1-2]. Do you have sin or weight that binds you and is holding you back from running? This week I want to encourage you all to pray that the Lord would show you the extra weights and sins that are holding you back from fully running this race for His glory. When He answers, don’t ignore it! Ask yourself, “Does —fill in the blank— help me run the race for Jesus or hinder me?” Then (in God’s strength) do just what Hebrews 12:1 says to- lay it aside! To lay aside is a deliberate decision to make a permanent change. Don’t say you just can’t throw —fill in the blank— off because, in all honesty, that isn’t the truth[1 Cor 10: 13]! You can throw off the weight and sin through the strength of the Lord, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phil 4:13. Yep, that’s my really random and long Week 11 musing! Phew, thank you for being a listening ear to my rambles. ;) I am praying for each one of you as you conquer week 11 of the Spring100 and seek to throw off that weight and the sin which so easily besets us. God is faithful! If you need someone to pray for you as you throw off certain weights or sin, send me an email to rachel@shilohphotography.com HERE. I will be honored to join you in prayer!?
??2 questions for this week!! ?? 1.) What is the strangest thing you have seen during your Spring100 walks/runs?? 2.) How many of you have already completed the 100 miles and are pushing forward for more?? Comment below answering one or both questions! Happy walking/running for week 5.

WEEK 9 MILEAGE FORM
…………………………
“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night”
Psalm 92:1-2
So many fun entries to last week’s give-away!! ?? I LOOOVED each one and can’t wait to share them with you all. AND we do have a winner! ? The question asked was “If you could walk the Spring100 with any historical figure, who would it be?” Y’all chose some fantastic people to walk with! I am reminded of verse 1 in Hebrews 12 where it says “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses”. These witnesses are men and women who have finished the race, who have run with endurance, and left a lasting testimony! These witnesses are not those who have witnessed their own faithfulness in running but God’s faithfulness working through them. Whether it be Corrie Ten Boom, the Apostle Paul, or King David- their testimony points us to God’s faithfulness in their lives and HIS strength made perfect in weakness! As we look to these men and women, we are pointed to the grace of our Lord and Savior. :) So, who is ready to conquer week 10 of the Spring100? Let’s do it! Congratulations to Marie for completing her first competitive trail run this past week!! She tied for second position of all ladies. ?? WAY TO GO!! She has inspired me with her dedication and endurance!!

WEEK 7 MILEAGE FORM
…………………………
Hello everyone!!! Welcome to week 8. ?? How was your walking/running for week 7 of the Spring100? Have you been enjoying great weather?? Most of mine was done on a treadmill or in the airport terminal… but that’s another blog post! ?✈️ One of our fellow Spring100ers competed in her very first 5K this week and I couldn’t have been more overjoyed to hear this. Everyone give Leah a big hand! ??? Way to go LEAH!! ?? As we move forward, summer plans may threaten to hinder us from meeting our walking/running goals BUT don’t lose heart. Keep on persevering! You can do it!! Just like in our physical exercise, we are going to find certain seasons in our spiritual walk/run that are going to be a bit more challenging to run with endurance. Very often it will feel as if we are running up hill as we face trying situations and spiritual discouragement. Sometimes these uphill runs will seem impossible or unending BUT we can run with endurance as we set our eyes on Jesus Christ! He himself has run the race before us[Heb 6:20]. He has victoriously finished and enabled us to do the same through HIS strength[Phil 2:13]! So, as you face those uphill runs spiritually, set your eyes on our Lord and Savior “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Our faithful God has promised that as we look to Him and trust HIM, we shall NEVER be put to shame[Rom 10:11]. He remains faithful in every season as we spiritually run! Uphill and down, He is always beside us, guiding us every step of the way[Is 41:13]. Set your face like a flint[Is 50:7] and run in the strength of the Lord! I will be praying for you all during week 8. ?
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
??2 questions!! ?? 1.) What is the biggest challenge you face in accomplishing your daily goals? 2.) Has the Lord put any truths from His word on your heart during your walks? Comment below answering one or both questions!↓↓ Can’t wait to hear your answers!!

WEEK 6 MILEAGE FORM
…………………………
“I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.”
Psalm 119:32
Well, half way through Spring100 is almost unbelievable for me!! This has been a great challenge and I have loved getting to know you all a little better through it. ?The next few weeks we have some pretty exciting happenings planned for our 100MileMonday posts(including a give-away?), so be ready!! How was week 6 for you all? Spring100ers have enjoyed a variety of walking conditions this past week and it’s been so fun to see. From sunny warm river walks to snow-covered ground❄️[how’s that for a Spring day?!] If y’all are using the Spring100 Calendar, Ps 119:32 is the verse of the week. Honestly, whenever I read this verse, it makes my heart swell! We can run swiftly in His commandments because He “enlarges” our hearts. “God, by His Spirit, enlarges the hearts of His people when he gives them wisdom”[MHC] and we are told in James 1:5 that “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” How exciting is that truth?! I am reminded of Psalm 119:18 where the Psalmist says, “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Thy law.” This would be a wonderful prayer for week 7 of the Spring100. May we seek the Lord diligently through His Word and pray that He would give us wisdom [enlarged hearts] to run [not just walk but RUN] swiftly in His commandments!! ? Praying for you all!
??2 questions for this week!! ?? 1.) Since we are exactly half way through, what’s been your favorite thing about the Spring 100 challenge so far? 2.) What is YOUR FAVORITE after walk/run treat( chocolate, fruit, cheeseburger??, NAP?, etc.)?? Comment below answering one or both questions!↓↓ Can’t wait to hear your answers!!

WEEK 4 MILEAGE FORM
…………………………
NEED A SPRING100 Calendar? Print off HERE!
“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”
1 Corinthians 9:24-25
How was week 4 of the Spring100 for y’all?? ? I hope you are finding it edifying, energizing, and encouraging. I had a super rainy week here BUT God allowed for just enough dry weather to get my daily walking goals in!! This week I have been super blessed as I meditate on 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 during my walks/runs. We are called to run this spiritual race to win! Our prize? The incorruptible crown! This does not mean we earn our salvation or that it is won by the way we ourselves run. If so, I would be desperately hopeless! You see, in Isaiah we are told that our works or “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” and in Romans 9:1 it says, “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” Salvation is a free gift of God and righteousness is found in the shed blood of Jesus Christ[2 Cor 5:21]! We are saved by grace[Eph 2:8-10»Rom 3:24»Acts 15:11], “our sufficiency is of God”[2 Cor 3:5] and this race we run, we run by HIS strength :). “The race of life is not a field for demonstrating the force of our will to make good choices. It’s a field for showing how the beauty of Christ takes us captive and constrains us to choose and run for HIS glory. The race of life has eternal consequences not because grace is nullified by the way we run, but because grace is verified by the way we run.” The way we run this race will prove whose strength we are running in and who has taken us captive. If we are trusting in ourselves or our own good works to get us to heaven[Rom 3:10»Is 64:6»Ps 130:3], we will have no endurance and completely fail the race…. We will fall drastically short of the finish line[Rom 3:23]. But if we have come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and found in Him our strength to run, we will run to win. Christ -in His great mercy and grace- enables us to run with endurance and finish the race set before us! :) Random thought for week 5. Look steadfastly to Jesus and trust HIM to sufficiently provide the strength needed to run the race set before you with endurance! He is faithful. ❤️ I will be praying for you all this new week of the SPRING100! Have fun!!
“ It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.”

Hello Week 4!! || 100mileMonday
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

WEEK 2 MILEAGE FORM
…………………………
Did you get those miles logged for week 2? ? Fantastic… let’s move on!!?
1 Spring100 notice: ☞ a great question was asked by a fellow Spring100er. She said, “What if I don’t get to logging my miles on Monday? Will it still work on Tuesday?”
Answer: YES!! It definitely will work on Tuesday or even a week later. I know life can get busy so just go back to the post with the form containing the week your logging for. So let’s say you couldn’t get around to logging week 2’s miles until week 3. Just go back to the correct post containing the week 2 form to log week 2!! ☺ Feel free to send an email or leave a comment below with any questions that may come into your mind for week 3!
Phew, formalities over? Good! ☺️ Last week I received an email from H.B. who joined in the Spring100 with us and I can’t tell you how much his note blessed and encouraged me. With his permission, I want to share it with you all! I hope it encourages and reminds you to find your strength in Christ[2 Cor 12:9-10], resting in the sufficiency of His grace, and seeking to glorify Him alone[Col 3:17] in all you do as you run the race set before you[Heb 12:1-3]! And yes, it truly is possible to glorify the Lord even in something as simple as a 1 mile walk/run and that is the goal of the Spring100. :) H.B. says:
“My name is H. and I signed up to your Spring 100 Challenge. It was really an answer to prayer. I had been praying for the Lord to give me grace to get back into running. I had stopped running when I became a Christian 6 years ago. I knew it was a hobby that I had that I counted as ‘dung’ as Paul puts it[Phil 3:8]. After 6 years as a Christian I believe that the Lord wanted me to run again, but this time for his glory. When I read your blog I had faith to believe that the Lord was encouraging me to start again. The Lord soon gave me grace to find a pair of shoes that fit online. The shoes got here on Friday and I had a goal of 8 miles by the end of the weekend.
When I got up this morning I still had a goal of 8 miles, of which I had 0. But by the grace of God I was able to accomplish my goal by running/jogging/walking the Azalea Trail…. It was a wonderful experience. I was able to give glory to God and bless His name as I admired his creation.
1 Corinthians 10:31“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
I checked the distance on Google and it came to 10.6 miles. Praise the Lord….”
Praise the Lord, indeed. ☺️ I’m thanking the Lord for H.B.’s testimony of God’s grace and I am so thankful he has joined us for the Spring100!! God truly does provide the grace and strength we need to do that which He has called us to, doesn’t He? His grace is sufficient!
How was week 2 for you all? I have LOVED hearing from lots of you and getting “status updates” throughout the week. Some of y’all are stuck indoors because of April showers but, with the aid of a treadmill, you’re not letting the rain stop you from meeting your goals! Others are opting out of driving to their destination and walking there. Way to go! ??This week I chose to walk most of my miles. A slightly sore ankle gave me an excuse to “slowly” walk ;). It was an extremely beautiful week of walking for me! I downloaded Psalm 147 on my phone and enjoyed listening to it while I did my daily miles. Verse 10-11 continually stuck out to me, “He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: HE taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear HIM, in those that hope in HIS mercy.” Keep up the great work everyone! Take this challenge at your own speed/pace and have fun. Looking forward to walking the rest of Spring100 with you all!
2 questions!!? 1.) How was the weather for week 2 of the Spring100? Sunny, dry, and warm? Or were rain coats, row boats, and layers necessary? ? 2.) Did you have any exciting encounters during Spring100 week 2 walks/runs? Grizzly bears, rattle snakes, etc? ? I would absolutely love to have each of you Spring100ers answer at least 1 or both questions in the comment section ↓below↓!!

It’s my hope and prayer that this will not just be a fun physical activity[although it is!!] but also a spiritual encouragement for the glory of God as we set our eyes on Jesus Christ[Heb 12:1-3]! And today is the day you get to log your miles from week 1! There is a super-easy form to fill out below. Please be sure to add up the miles walked/ran for WEEK 1 [last week, March 20-26th] and submit them here! For those who are currently traveling, sick, or recovering from baby ;) and are planning on starting the Spring100 when the Lord allows, just enter 0 until you actually begin the Spring100!

Okay… did you log those miles? ?Good, we can move on!!?
1 Spring100 notice: ☞I was asked by several Spring100 participants how they should keep track of their daily miles and some have requested some type of chart! So, I have created the Spring100 calendar. ☺ It’s pretty self-explanatory! If you’re needing an easy way to keep track of the miles walked in a day/week in between submitting them here, print the below calendars and have fun! I have also chosen a verse each new week that has blessed me over the past week and I hope the verses chosen will encourage and bless you each week as you meditate on them during your walk/run. :) You could even set your mind and heart on memorizing the verses during your walk/run. I have my Spring100 calendar printed and I’ve started filling it in!

I chose Is 40:31 for this week’s verse! “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” I found myself downright physically exhausted last week and instantly Isaiah 40:31 came to mind! It made me think of the spiritual race we are running. This spiritual race can only be run with endurance when we find our strength in Christ [Ps 28:7]! “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength”. To wait means 1.) to remain in a state in which you expect [Ps 62:5]or hope[Jer 17:7] and 2.) to serve[Ps 100:2], to attend as a servant. So, as we run the race set before us, where is our hope and who are we serving? Ultimately, who are we running for? :) As we run for, Hope in, and serve the Lord, He will renew our strength! We will “run and not grow weary”. That is a promise! ?
2 QUESTIONS!! ? How did week 1 of the SPRING100 go for you?? Where was your favorite walking location for week 1? I would love to have each of you answer 1 or both questions in the comment section ↓below↓!!

Ready… set… GO! || 100MileMonday
Happy Spring and with the first day of Spring we also have the very first day of the Spring100! ????
The last 24 hours have brought NEW members to the Spring100. ???? Welcome[y’all know who you are ;]!! We are so glad to have you join in the fun! Today is the very first day of Spring100 and I really couldn’t be any more excited!! Our Goal: 100 miles by June 21st… let’s do it! For the first day of this challenge I want to encourage you all to really redeem your walking time by interweaving Scripture into the miles you walk this Spring. One of our fellow Spring100ers let me know this morning that she hoped to be using the walk to work on scripture she memorized last year and really, that is the best idea ever! ☺???? Another will be doing the Spring100 with a sibling and they plan on working on their verse recitation as they walk. ???? For me, my early morning walks are also my time to pray. Usually this walk is the quietest time of my day and using it to meditate on the Lord has been such a blessing. If I decide to run[which doesn’t happen often. I am a running wimp????????], I will listen to Scripture or hymns! We are told that the Word of God is a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto my path[Ps 119:105]. So, as we walk the Spring100 there is really nothing better to meditate on each step of the way! :) Happy First day of Spring & enjoy this challenge!
“Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”
Ps 119:133
Okay!! This is where y’all get involved! ???? For the first day of the Spring100, I would love for those of you who have joined to leave a an introduction comment below saying “hello”???? to the fellow Spring100 participants and letting us know whether you plan on walking or running or doing a walk/run combo for this challenge.
Just 2 quick Spring100 reminders!!
