A good thing! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High”
Psalm 92:1

Not only is giving thanks God’s Will but it’s a good thing! πŸ™ŒπŸ» “We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.” Revelations 11:17. God is worthy of ALL praise and continual thanksgiving! So, will you join me in sharing your thanksgivings today?? Counting down to Thanksgiving daily by posting my Thanksgivings and hoping you will join the fun!!😊 Today I am:

1.) THANKFUL that “it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” Phil 2:13
2.) I am thankful that salvation is a GIFT from God. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8
3.) Thankful that the Lord is longsuffering and has given me a longsuffering family! Y’all, I need it. β™₯οΈπŸ˜… “The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” Ps 145:8
4.) Thankful for Soft beds and comfortable pillows! ;) Try sleeping on a hard bed or uncomfortable pillow. It is not fun!πŸ™ˆ
5.) Thankful for Autumn Colors!!! Aren’t they so gorgeous?! πŸ‚
6.) Thankful for work to daily lay my hands to! And for the Lord giving me the strength and ambition to DO THE NEXT THING. Whatever that may be! πŸ‘πŸ» “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…”

Psalm 107:31-32

About Rachel

"Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." Isaiah 1:18-20

  6. I’m thankful for:
    1. The Book of Psalms. It is one of my favorite books and always has encouraging words. “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103:1-5 That chapter is a special favorite of mine.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:1-5
    ….

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

  9. This week of sharing thanksgivings and reading the thanks of others has given me SO MUCH PURE JOY!!! Thanks to everyone that has contributed!!!

We live in a sin-cursed, imperfect world, where God has commanded us to RISE ABOVE our circumstances and natural murmuring inclinations, to praise Him in EVERYTHING! Not easy to do when things happen daily to cause us to murmur and complain. Complaint is almost a way of life! But God would have us be filled with the Spirit, which fills us with the joy of the Lord!

This week has had trials, but they were ordained of God to teach me a valuable lesson about praise. I will relate a couple: On Monday, I got a screw in my tire, and took it into town for a $17.00 patch. Instead of complaining in my heart, I chose to praise God that I hadn’t gotten a flat, and that I had a local shop that could do the job! I was happy to contribute to their staying in my small town. I was filled with joy, rather than anger and self-pity. Then, on Tuesday, I accidently poured transmission fluid into my motor oil. I took it to a local mechanic for an oil change that cost $39.00. Instead of complaining in my heart, I again chose to praise God that my engine wasn’t damaged, that the mechanic got me in, and did everything in 30 minutes, and it didn’t cost more!!! It was an answer to prayer!

Difficult trials could always BE WORSE! If we look at life (and our Heavenly Father) that way, we will always be thankful.

God is in everything, and what He ordains is for our growth, even when it is rebuke or punishment. If it is our loving God (and it is) that ordains EVERYTHING in our lives, who are we to complain?

God says, Praise me in everything. When we obey, even when we don’t feel like it at first, our heaviness turns into joy at last. We end up blessed by our afflictions, and God ends up greatly glorified!! The opposite work is heaviness, anger, rage, sadness, depression, and possible sin with our tongues, thoughts, or deeds. In other words, a fleshly reaction. We bring everyone around us down into our pit, and God isn’t glorified.

The Lord has promised us abundant life. Praising Him in all things lends to that. How wonderful is a positive, spiritual attitude!!! I should add, that asking for His help when we are truly grief-stricken or can’t help ourselves (which is different from murmuring and complaining), is also a must in our walk with God.

Today, Thanksgiving, I was alone for the holiday for the first time in 48 years! The last time was when I was in the Navy. I had no special food, but the joy of the Lord has been with me all day. The day isn’t really about the feast, or even family and friends, though they are precious, it is about setting aside a day to specially praise the Triune God. We owe the Lord literally everything.

So, I am full and abound. I desire to remember this, and to make it a practice to stop complaints before they find a home in my soul. I know it won’t be easy, but with God’s help, I want praise to become habitual, but not mechanical.

Praise glorifies God; it is an act of obedience and worship. Praise brings us out of darkness and into the light of His joy, to heal our hearts and even our bodies!!! And our joy spreads to others! What a blessing the Lord’s command is!!!!!

Leave a comment and make my day! :)
