Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
1 Peter 2:21-24
I had the great pleasure of witnessing my sister’s baptism this morning. Praising the Lord for this day and the fact that “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Ephesians 2:8
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
Romans 9:16
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.
John 10:28
I have already come;
‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.
Acts 3:19
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
John 3:16
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
Bright shining as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’ve first begun.
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
Praise God! :-D
[Devotional from Spurgeon's Morning and Evening]

“Whose heart the Lord opened” (Acts 16:14).
Lydia's conversion was brought about by providential circumstances. She was a seller of purple in the city of Thyatira, but she was in Philippi just at the right time to hear Paul. Providence, which is the handmaid of grace, led her to the right spot. Grace was preparing her soul for the blessing. She did not know the Savior, but since she was Jewish, she knew many truths which were excellent stepping stones to a knowledge of Jesus. On the Sabbath she went where prayer was to be made, and there prayer was heard. God may bless us when we are not in His house, but we have greater reason to hope that He will when we are in communion with His saints. Observe the words, “Whose heart the Lord opened.” She did not open her own heart. Her prayers did not do it, and Paul did not do it. The Lord Himself must open the heart to receive the things which bring us peace. He is the hearts's Master because He is the heart's Maker. The first outward evidence of the opened heart was obedience. As soon as Lydiea believed in Jesus, she was baptized. It is a sweet sign of a humble and broken heart when the child of God is willing to obey a command which is not essential to his salvation or forced up on him by a selfish fear of condemnation. Lydia's baptism was a simple act of obedience and of communion with her Master. The next evidence was love, manifesting itself in acts of grateful kindness to the apostles. Love for the saints has always been a mark of the true convert. Those who do nothing for Christ or His Church give poor evidence of an open heart. Lord, give me an open heart toward You.
When were you saved? I was saved this year! And will be baptized soon!! do follow my blog.
Thank you Rebekah! “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.” Psalm 145:3
@Savories of Life: Praising the Lord for your salvation! We are now sisters in Christ :) I was saved about 16 years ago and was baptized within that year. By the grace of God and His shed blood I am saved. There is nothing good in me apart from Christ and He is my all.
“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5
I read this morning Isaiah 12 and was instantly drawn toward verses 2-5:
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
“Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.”
How beautiful and comforting! With joy I draw water out of the well of Salvation. We serve an awesome God!
i thought it was appropriate, being that it was “Lydia” “whose heart the Lord opened”! and it's the devotional for December 10th – the day before Lydia was baptised. pretty neat, i think.
i was baptised on December 14th, 2008.
God bless Lydia. :)
Very neat! You have an anniversary coming up in 2 days ;)
Praise the Lord! What a blessing to hear!
I've been trying to send you an email, Rachel, and I keep getting a message that it could not be sent. I'll try sending it again soon, and hopefully you'll get it :)
Blessings!
