“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
Psalm 27:14
A rather timely reminder showed itself in my mail box today. :) In a world where everything is instant{instant messages, instant oatmeal… honestly, how much more instant can it get than real oatmeal?} waiting isn’t on anybody’s top priority list! Wait has been my word for 2014. I know, we are only 16 days into the new year and I already have a word of the year! ;) But my word doesn’t just stop at wait, it is actually 4 words, WAIT ON THE LORD. So, today in the midst of overwhelming inventory counting and sales tax prep, when waiting for answers to prayers seemed a little bit or rather extremely hard, The Lord full of mercy, in His good humor and grace, sent a rather random envelope from a complete stranger to me and the quote diligently handwritten on the back was “Hard it is to wait on The Lord, but worse yet to wish you had.” :) Honestly, waiting can be difficult at times and sometimes it can be extremely difficult but I am finding through waiting HE reveals all the more who He truly is to me. He shows me I don’t have the strength to wait apart from HIM, He alone provides that strength. He shows me that in HIM alone will I find peace{Eph 2:14} & satisfaction{Ps 107:9}. Through waiting He reveals His grace, His unfailing Love, and His mercy{which is truly new EVERY morning!} Through waiting He shows me a deeper meaning of hope and greater depth of faith, He reveals to me how frail I am{Ps 103:15} and how powerful HE is{Jer 32:17}. He builds my patience, my endurance, and my hope{Rom 5:4-5}. And hope does not disappoint! :) He reminds me that absolutely nothing is impossible with Him and by Him alone will the impossible become possible{Luke 1:37}. The sanctification in waiting on The Lord is a beautiful thing! Through trial & temptation, through hard times & good times, wait on the Lord friends, He will give us the strength needed{Is 40:31}! :)
“The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.”
Lamentations 3:25-26
“Ah Lord God! behold, Thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for Thee”
Jeremiah 32:17
How about a bit of randomness via the iphone for this Thursday? ;)
So I’m catching up on your blog – it’s filled with loveliness. This post is so timely for me and so encouraging. God grows our trust in him and it is a sweet thing, albeit difficult, to wait on his timing. But it is so worth it.
So glad it encouraged! Waiting on The Lord is a beautiful thing and extremely woth it, RuthAnne! Sometimes difficult but always worth it. :)
