Meekness || Random Wednesday Ramblings

“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”
1 Peter 3:3-4

I’ve been thinking a ton about the above verses from 1 Peter 3 lately! We live in a world where the standard for “beauty” is continually changing and being redefined yet never achieved. The world’s beauty standard has morphed into an ugly, expensive mess! πŸ«£πŸ˜‰ BUT we, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, have the secret to incorruptible beauty! the Ornament of a meek and quiet spirit… this is a beauty that does not fade away and a beauty that is precious in God’s sight. πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ§‘ In a world that exalts pride, meekness is seen as weakness yet, in all truth, meekness is supernatural strength from the Lord. I love the below definition of meekness:

Meekness= humility; resignation[←surrender]; submission to the divine will, without murmuring or peevishness[peevish=easily irritated, especially by unimportant things]; OPPOSED to pride, arrogance, and refractoriness[← refractoriness=stubbornness; not easily melted or worked!]

As I look at the above definition of meekness, I see a meek and quiet spirit is one that is humble(James 4:6), patient(James 1:4), surrendered to the Lord’s perfect will(Ps 40:8, Luke 22:42), not given over to complaining or easily irritated(Philippians 2:14, 1 Corinthians 13:7), seeking after wisdom(James 3:17) and wanting to be molded and conformed to the image of Christ(Romans 8:29). I don’t know about you but I sure do desire this inward adornment of a meek and quiet spirit! I love Matthew 11:29 as the Lord Jesus Christ says, “Take My yoke upon you, and learn of ME; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” Jesus Christ is the perfect example of meekness. May we learn from Him! It is my prayer that I would diligently seek after this inner, incorruptible beauty and that the Lord would create in me this meek and quiet spirit for His glory and His good pleasure. Do you want to know the beautiful news? We are told that “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son”(Rom 8:29) … “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ”(Phil 1:6) That, my friends is a promise! ☺️🧑 I am thankful that He does that good work in us, conforming us to the image of His Son. So, ladies, there are my random Wednesday rambles! πŸ˜‰ If you made it to the end, CONGRATULATIONS. THANK YOU!πŸ˜… I would love to hear from you today…. My sisters and I were blessed to spend 4 days at the beach with some of the best ladies ever! It was a sweet time filled with good food, conversation, encouragement, and so much laughter!

Homefront FarmLyfe has been bustling! Grace and her work crew have been hard at work, diligently keeping things running smoothly during lambing season. They are doing a great job and the Lord is blessing their diligence! β™₯️

And all the in-between! πŸ’ Pizza night, Cupcake baking, card crafting, coffee shop stops, Evening walks + Sunsets with sisters, and evening volleyball with brothers. πŸ§πŸ™ŒπŸ» “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.”

 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:2

About Rachel

"Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." Isaiah 1:18-20

  1. Dear Rachel, I loved your thoughts on meekness! I’m so thankful that God in patience is still working this out in me (and I’m almost 70!) I think it is something that I will always be learning.

    Meekness is restful because we can stop “fighting” our own fights and surrender to God, who fights for us, or teaches us that we don’t have to fight at all! Meekness and contentment are satisfied with God’s decrees for us. But pride and covetousness are never satisfied, even if fed constantly.

    I loved your montage of pictures. So satisfying and fun!!! Sights, sounds, taste and touch: the senses are alive and life is portrayed to the glory of God in dignity, charm, exhilaration and fullness. The abundant life of peace, joy and love in Christ!

    1. β€œI think it is something that I will always be learning.” I agree!! I also love how you mentioned meekness is restful because we cease fighting and rest in Him. Reminds me of that portion of Matthew 11:29 that says, β€œye shall find rest unto your souls.” Praise the Lord! It is true. πŸ™ŒπŸΌβ™₯️☺️

  2. Thank you for this beautiful reminder Rachel!🌸 It really encouraged me today and was just what I needed.😊

    …So I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten. Joel 2:25
    That’s a verse that has been encouraging me lately.πŸ˜€ Just thinking about how merciful God is to us and that it’s never too late to turn back and turn to Him and he will restore to you all the years that have been wasted and will erase the things in your past and give us a whole new life!!πŸ₯³ Such an encouraging verse.πŸ₯°

    And I loved getting a little peek into your life through the pictures.πŸ˜€ Thanks for sharing those.πŸ€—
