“But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”
James 4:6
More Grace. π As I listened to my Audio Bible today during a walk, that jumped out of the speaker and hit my heart!πβ₯οΈ I don’t know about you but I think my 2020 can be summed up by those 4 words… “He giveth more grace”. I definitely have received MORE GRACE from our gracious Lord and Savior in 2020! In a year of complete unexpected for so many HE gave more grace to each one of us! “of His fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.” John 1:16. Grace for every challenge faced, grace for every change that has taken place, grace for every new day. And here we are, ending out this year with grace sufficient and hope for the coming days! As I celebrated Christmas this month, I’ve loved John 1:17, “grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” He is the Savior of the World! The God of hope[Romans 15:13]. Through Him we receive abundance of grace[Romans 5:17]!! So, as we wrap up another grace-filled year, my prayer for each blog reader is this… “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” Revelations 22:21!
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come:
’tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures.
β¨QUESTION!!β¨ How was your Christmas?? In 1 word, how would you describe it??
“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord”
2 Peter 1:2
Only one word to describe Christmas? Hmm, maybe restful. Our Christmas was pretty low-key and a quiet family day.
I am so thankful you had a restful Christmas, Hannah! β₯οΈβ₯οΈβ₯οΈ
Thank you for this encouraging post to wrap up 2020. The music was so peaceful, and the encouragement of how God’s grace goes before us into the new year, just as it brought us through this one, was a blessing. Thank you, Rachel!
Aw, thank you, Bethany!! πππΌ So thankful that this was an encouragement to you. So thankful that His grace goes before us! We can confidently move forward in that.π
“And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Such a beautiful post Rachel!!! Thank you for sharing such wonderful encouragement!!! π
Our Christmas was very quiet and quite lovely!! π Went to the Christmas service at church in the morning, and then Mom, Dad, Lydia and I enjoyed talking and enjoying visiting with eachother the rest of the day πππ in one word, I would describe it as BLESSED!!!!!!!!!! ππ» How was your Christmas?? π
π§‘ππ» Praise the Lord! So thankful it was encouraging to you.
BLESSED… LOVE that! SO glad you had a blessed Christmas. Sounds absolutely beautiful!ππΌπ
My Christmas was fabulous!! Really one of the best yet. Thanking the Lord for the time spent with family and the ability to celebrate His gift of Salvation!
I agree with Anna! Her word is the one that I also have chosen. Blessed.
On Christmas Day I went to see (for the first time) my sister-in-law’s home that she and one of my nieces bought together. They moved there on the day after Christmas, from living on the street behind my house, to living an hour away. It is certainly sad for me and I already miss them being close by, but I am so happy for them! :-)
I enjoyed Christmas Day with some of my extended family, and had an enjoyable time.
Rachel, I hope your day was filled with the blessings of the Lord, and the blessings of your family. God’s presence makes all things special. :-) Thanks for such beautiful ending words to the year 2020! He giveth more grace…and thanks for the beautiful music link to Amazing Grace. What a truly blessed hymn!
I am so thankful you had a blessed Christmas, Sheri!!πβοΈ I can imagine that would be a big adjustment for you even with how happy of a move it is for them. π€π€π€
Mine was filled with blessings from the Lord! Time spent with my siblings, parents, and grandfather. Amen, God’s presence makes all things beautiful and special! I think we can so often forget that. May He fill your heart with joy and give you more grace for each new day! Praying for you, Sheri!! β₯οΈβ₯οΈβ₯οΈ
Thank you, Rachel!! Grace, hugs and prayers!
Such a beautiful and encouraging post Rachel!! Thank you!! It really blessed me. :) :) :) And Amen to all of it!! I LOVE that verse!!
The word I would describe our Christmas with is Fun, though if I could choose 2 it would be fun AND blessed!
I really had a lot of FUN shoveling all that snow off our driveway all morning and we had a very busy but very BLESSED day. :)
Hope you had a blessed Christmas as well Rachel!!ππ€π
Aw, thanking the Lord to hear these random thoughts and the verses shared blessed you, Caroline. πππΌβ₯οΈ THAT IS A HUGE BLESSING!!!
LOVE your word choice. FUN! After reading about your day in the previous blog post, I think you chose the perfect word. SO happy you had a blessed and fun day with family, good food, and some fabulous snow-shoveling exercise! πππ
Missional.
This Christmas we set out to love and serve some of the family that has often been neglected. It is easiest and comfortable to love those who love you, in truth. It is more difficult to love those who only love you in an earthly way…
We are to love one another and love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us…The Lord is working obedience into my heart in this way. I do not think that we always have to preach with our mouths. Actions do speak louder than words in a lot of ways… and we ought to practice what we preach.
I long for the day when my earthly (extended) family might be reconciled under Christ’s rule. I should pray more to that affect. I don’t have it all ironed out…but i am becoming persuaded that it is the love of God that shatters and heals a heart of stone…His judgements are just and evident… but the gospel seems to sing the tune of mercy triumphing over judgement. In all honesty, it still sounds too good to be true, if i am understanding it correctly! This saying is *trustworthy* and deserving of *FULL* acceptance that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners — of whom i am the foremost! That’s enough hope for the entire world…now, how do i express the beauty thereof?
Please pray with me over my excessive eating. I know there is a lack of self control… and i think I’m seeking comfort, which it does not provide long term — just the opposite!
Thank you for always directing our hearts upwards, Rachel. You lead very well in that way. May God bless you.
I think that is one of the best words to have during the Christmas season! β₯οΈβ₯οΈβ₯οΈ
I have already started praying for you this morning, Rebekah, and will continue to! May the Lord give you grace and strengthen you as you seek to honor Him in your eating habits. In HIS strength, you can overcome and be triumphant!! “Now thanks be unto God, who always causeth us to triumph in Christ and who maketh manifest through us the savor of His knowledge in every place.” 2 Corinthians 2:14
Aw, all glory and praise to GOD alone for using me in my weakness to reveal His strength and show His grace.π “But by the grace of God, I am what I am…”1 Cor 15:10! He is faithful!! Thank you for your encouragement, Rebekah!!
