“Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Luke 1:78-79
Peace…. That has been my “word” this Christmas Season!β¨βοΈβ₯οΈ βto give light to them that sit in darknessβ¦. to guide our feet into the way of peace.β How amazing is this?! Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, is our peace! βFor He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between usβ Eph 2:14! I am reminded of the night of our Saviorβs birth when the multitude of the heavenly host praised God saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth PEACE, good will toward men.” Luke 2:11! Jesus Christ is the Prince of peace and offers perfect peace in a world filled with chaos and confusion. I have so loved John 14:27 this year as Jesus says, “PEACE I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” And tonight…. My prayer for each of you is “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13. May your Christmas week be filled with perfect peace as you set your mind on the Prince of Peace!
Here we are at the Eve of Christmas Eve π and I am pretty excited! It is true… I tend to revert back to a child-like state of eager anticipation and excitement as I don a Festive Christmas Sweater 24/7 as the days get closer to Christmas!! This past week my mom and little sisters did a lovely job lightly decorating the house for Christmas day, our Family Christmas Cards shipped off(well, 99.9% have shipped… a few are still getting addressed and stamped), and a few gallons of Hot Cocoa have been consumed.π€£π I have a large number of random December photos uploaded that I hope to share soon BUT first things first… today is Wednesday which means Random Questions are here!! Of course, being the eve of Christmas Eve, the questions will all be Christmas Themed.ππ»ππ»β₯οΈ So, without further ado… Random Question Wednesday… Christmas Edition! π
- What is your favorite Christmas Hymn?
- What is your Favorite scripture verse(s) for this Christmas season?
- Do you have any Christmas Traditions?
- Favorite Christmas cookie?
You have a large mug of delicious Hot Cocoa in hand… WOULD YOU RATHER top it off with Marshmallows or whipped cream?

Ohhh what an encouraging post, Rachel!! I was so blessed by the verses you shared! π
1. Oh no…. How am I supposed to choose?!?! Hmm….. Maybe “All My Heart This Night Rejoices” but there are so many that I love!!
2. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
“John 3:17 π
3. Our Christmas tradition is to make sugar cookies and other treats and pass them out to our neighbors ππ It’s super fun, and there are usually extras for us to eat afterwards πππ
4. Gingerbread!!! π
I would rather have whipped cream on my hot cocoa π LOVE whipped cream πππ
I am so so thankful it was an encouragement to you, Anna! ππ€ So blessed to hear that!!
I know!!!! Choosing just one Christmas Hymn favorite is nearly impossible… πππ You chose one of my favorites!!π
Beautiful verse choice!!!!!! And great tradition. Such a wonderful opportunity to share the Love of God with them during Christmas!! I’m sure they taste super deliciousπ.
I love whipped cream too! I tend to go overboard with how much I use. πβ₯οΈβοΈ
Thank you so much for taking time to answer, Anna!! DAY MAKER!!!!!
Hi Anna!!
I’ve never heard of that song and I just went and looked it up….. t’s beautiful!!! I can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before!! Thanks for a new favorite song!! :) :) :)
Merry Christmas!! :) :) :) Jesus is the reason for the Season!!!!! :) :) :)
Oh, I’m so glad liked it!!!! πππ
1. I would probably say that my favorite Christmas hymn is “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”
2. 1 John 4:10 “In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
3. My family has a few traditions. One that I really love is where we turn off all of the lights in the house and sit in complete silence for 400 seconds, to signify the 400 years of silence between the Old and New Testament. Then we turn the lights back on and listen to “Behold the Lamb of God” by Andrew Peterson.
4. My favorite Christmas cookie is ginger. Cookies never last long in my house though. With 9 of the 10 kids and two parents, we have to divide up the treats among us :)
I would definitely put whipped cream in my hot cocoa :D
Alaina!! I so so so enjoyed seeing your comment come in. THANK YOU!!! ππ
Beautiful verse and hymn choice!! “peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!” πππ
Now I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that tradition. What a beautiful reminder of the Light that came into the world!! Great song choice too.β₯οΈππ»
Haha, I understand about the cookies disappearing fast! We usually have to triple the recipe if we all hope to get more than one around here.π
Great Hot Cocoa topper choice!! Such a treat seeing your answers. THANK YOU again, Alaina!! ππΌββοΈπ
1. My favorite Christmas hymn is O Holy Night.
2. My favorite verses…probably the prophecies of Christ’s coming that were fulfilled exactly as they had been prophesied to happen.
3. Some of our family’s Christmas traditions, though we don’t do all of them every year, are Christmas caroling and delivering homemade goodies to our neighbors.
4. My favorite Christmas cookies are Holly Cookies and Sugar Cookies!
And I would definitely choose a mountain of whipped cream on top of my hot chocolate! Mmm, makes me want some right now!!
Merry Christmas, Rachel and everyone!!
Yay! So glad you joined the fun Hannah. πβ₯οΈ
Iβve been so blessed by the hymn O Holy Night this year!! βA thrill of hope–the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!β ππΌ
π€Iβve never heard of Holly Cookies before! Had to look them up. Those are fun!! πβοΈ

My favorite Christmas hymn is probably O Holy Night, but there are SOO many beautiful ones!!!!π
My favorite Christmas scripture is….
The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned. Matthew 4:16
or….
Then the angel said to them, βDo not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord! Luke 2:10
Our Christmas tradition is playing Dutch Blitz!! we try to do some caroling but sometimes we aren’t able to do it… π
My favorite Christmas cookies are Gingersnaps!! Yummy!!πβΊοΈπ
Well, I’ve never had whipped cream on my Hot Chocolate before and I like mini marshmallows in my Hot Chocolate so I would probably say that I would rather top it off with marshmallows!! ππππ

Iβm so so thankful you were blessed by this post, Caroline!!! π€β₯οΈ It made MY day to see your comment come in. π
Oooooh! Beautiful scripture choices! Matthew 4:16 is beautiful. β₯οΈ
π Iβve never learned how to play Dutch blitz but have some friends who are quite competitive with it. Itβs fun to watch!! ππΌ
π±Iβm surprised you have never had whipped cream on your hot chocolate. BUT mini marshmallows are a fun topper and delicious!!βΊοΈ I like making homemade marshmallows when I have time. Super good on hot cocoa!
Merry Christmas Carline!!! πβ₯οΈβοΈ
What!?! You’ve never played Dutch Blitz!?!?!!! you don’t know what you’re missing!! it’s SOO MUCH fun!!
we frequently have up to 8 people playing at once around our table and we are all pretty competitive and it can get very wild in interesting with lots of giggling and arms going everywhere!! πππ
Yummy!! we made homemade marshmallows once several years ago and they were SO hard it was like chewing of crumbling bricks!!πππππ

Speaking of cards games with my siblings… I gotta go now because I’m going to play some Uno with some of my siblings!! Fun!!
P.S. I realized that for some reason I missed your last Random Question Wednesday post and didn’t even see it until today when I was looking for a post on your blog so I’ll have to go and comment on it soon!! But not now because they’re calling me to play!! πππππππ

I did!!π thanks!!ππ
Oh! We LOVE playing Dutch Blitz, too!! It is one of favorite games! When we first got it I think we played every night for a month. π
YESS!!!!! such a fun game! πππ
Merry Christmas to everyone!!!
1. My favorite Christmas hymn would have to be ‘Silent Night’, though ‘O Holy Night’ runs a very close second. :-)
2. My favorite Christmas verse comes from Isaiah 9:6: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” We have a beautiful tune to the verse and sing it in my church.
3. No two Christmases have been alike for the past several years, so it’s hard to have traditions as a single adult. But when I was a child on Christmas Eve we would put on beautiful Christmas music and Dad would read Luke 2:1-20, then we would eat dinner off of paper plates (a rarity in my family in the 60’s) while sitting on a blanket in front of our cozy fireplace. We had special sandwiches, minus the crusts – which happened only once a year. We were poor, so we ate the crusts thankfully the rest of the time. We also had chips, olives, smoked oysters and other special finger foods. Dessert was a round homemade cheesecake with a single candle for Jesus. We all blew it out as a family. Then we would sing Christmas carols, and afterwards each person, starting with the youngest, would bring their presents out of their hiding places and put them under the tree. What a wonderful, giggly-happy time it was! Christmas morning we children would walk out to the tree together for our first glimpse with all the gifts that “Santa” had brought. Of course, we knew that it was Mom and Dad, but it was still fun. One child, usually the oldest boy, would hand out the presents as he saw fit, one at a time, and we would watch each one being opened and we were always careful to give hugs and thanks to the givers of the gifts. Sometimes we would eat breakfast before, sometimes after. Breakfast was scrambled eggs and various donuts from a local bakery, and hot chocolate. This was a treat. We didn’t eat like that the rest of the year. Now, my dad is in heaven with the Lord and my family is scattered, but the wonderful memories still bless my heart.
4. Cookies are a thing of the past for me, but one of my favorites was what we called “One-eyed Cookies.” It was a buttery-sweet cookie with a Thin Mint pressed into the top of each, while warm from the oven. When they cooled, the mints stayed put, until eaten, of course! ;-)
My “would-you-rather” would have to be hot chocolate, made with raw cacao powder and raw honey, with real whipped cream, not the store bought Cool Whip stuff. Yum!!!
Thanks again, Rachel, for taking time out of your busy schedule to bring us this fun little get-together sharing time.
Sheri!!! How I loved reading your familyβs Christmas tradition. I felt like I was sitting there experiencing it with you. π€β€οΈ I smiles over the crustless sandwiches!! π
Those One Eyed cookies sound delicious!!!
Homemade whipped cream is the way to go when you are able to whip it!! βΊοΈβοΈ Weβve become quite spoiled to it here. Iβm going to have to try you cocoa with raw sugar! That sounds wonderful. π―
Thank you for blessing us with your answers, Sheri!! So glad we can enjoy a little βChristmas partyβ sharing Christmas memories here on the Blog!! Merry Christmas π€βοΈβ₯οΈ
Loved all the verses you shared, Rachel!
1. My favorite would have to be either “O come all ye faithful” or “Silent Night”.
2. My favorite verses would have to be Isaiah 9:6 and Philippians 2: 5-11
3. My family has lots of Christmas traditions, though unfortunately we weren’t able to do some of them this year because of covid.
The ones we have been able to do are: going ice skating, watching Christmas movies, delivering cookies/candy/hot chocolate to the neighbors, going on a long walk tonight to look at Christmas lights, etc.
4. My favorite cookie would be chocolate chip. My sister makes the worlds best chocolate chip cookies!!!! :D
I would prefer whip cream :)
Question for you: Do you have any Christmas movies that you like to watch every year?
Emma!! Loved seeing your comment come in. THANK YOU!! AND I love seeing your verse choices. Philippians 2:5-11 is a beautiful Christmas scripture!!
” But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross….”
I am so thankful you have been able to do some of your Christmas traditions even in the midst of the covid upheaval!! Sounds like you all have a fabulous time. πβ€οΈ
OOooh! Those chocolate chip cookies sound delicious.πππͺ
Yes, we have a few classics we watch!! We always start the Month of December off with the classic Charlie Brown Christmas.βοΈπ We also watch “It’s A Wonderful Life” on Christmas Eve. It is so long we had to divide it into 2 days this year!! π
Thank you so much for blessing me with your answers and comment!!!β₯οΈ
Oh yes!!π We LOVE the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”!! πππWe usually watch it on Christmas but we didn’t this year. π
Oh, what fun questions Rachel!
1. My favorite Christmas hymn is βO Little Town of Bethlehemβ π
2. A favorite scripture for this Christmas season is 1 John 4:14 -βAnd we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.β
3. We have a few traditions… all of us siblings draw names and we get the sibling we drew a gift for Christmas. Then on the morning we open presents we always have a brunch of doughnuts and sausage balls! π
4. My favorite cookies are Thin Mints!
If I had to choose, I would rather put marshmallows in my hot chocolate… but honestly, I just like my hot chocolate plain. π
I’m so glad you enjoyed the questions, Sarah!! ππ I so enjoyed receiving your comment!
Love your hymn choice!! That is one we haven’t sung yet this year.
So fun! We draw names too!!!!!! Do you all keep the person you drew a secret until Christmas? I really enjoy that tradition as it allows you to focus on gifting something special for that one sibling!π Your brunch sounds absolutely fabulous. πππ
That is so cool that you draw names, too!! Haha! Years ago we kept it a secret, but now it has come the tradition to figure out who everybody has by picking up clues, etc.. What about y’all? Do you keep it a secret?
We attempt to keep it a secret until Christmas morning and then see who can guess who has who before the gifts are given. It is fun as itβs become more of a challenge to see who can keep the best secret since weβve all gotten older and not give away any clues as to who they have. βΊοΈβ₯οΈ Merry Christmas Sarah!!
