When you find yourself at your favorite day… you know you must blog your favorite food! ? Thursdays and cupcakes are 2 of my favorite things. And to add to the favorites, how about a favorite verse of the day?! “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in HIM.” Ps 34:8!! I love 1 Peter 2:2 where it says “If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” I have both tasted and seen the goodness of THE Lord! It has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more.“my cup runneth over”!? “For HE satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.” Psalm 107:9! All this to say, Happy Thursday everyone!??♀️? I hope your day is filled to the brim and overflowing with tasting and seeing the goodness of the Lord!
✨QUESTION: I would love to hear your favorite Scripture verse for the day and while you are at it, let me know what your favorite day + food is in the comment box below! ????
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
Psalm 23
Psalms 36:5-9
“Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast. How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. ”
My favorite day is Sunday, and my favorite food…… FAJITAS!!!!!!!??
Thank you SO MUCH, Rachel, for your encouraging post! I’m sure lots of others will agree with me that you’re a blessing to many people! You bless me abundantly with your posts, and particularly the Scripture passages you share! Thanks again!
“How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.” AMEN AMEN AMEN! ?????? I love that portion of scripture so much. Thank you for sharing it, Anna!! ? Reminds me of Psalm 91 which has been on my mind a lot lately!! “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”
Great favorites! And thank you, Anna. God is gracious!! ??
“…blessed is the man that trusteth in Him,” because trusting God, is loving Him, and “perfect love casts out fear.” I John 4:18. No matter what we face, when we trust God to work His will (which will be for our eternal good) we are happy and at peace. Thanks, Rachel!
My scripture study today is in Jeremiah, in the chapters that recount where Gedaliah (the appointed governor over the remnant that Nebuchadrezzer left in the land after he destroyed Jerusalem) was treacherously slain by a man named Ishmael. When Ishmael took captives and fled, he was pursued by Captain Johanan. The captives were liberated. Later, Johanan asked Jeremiah to inquire of the Lord whether they should remain in Judah, or flee to Egypt. After solemnly promising to obey God no matter what He said, when God told them to stay, they disobeyed and went to Egypt and died there, according to God’s word.
One of the verses in this tragic account that always sticks out at me, is Jeremiah 42:7. The people had asked Jeremiah to pray for an answer for them: “And it came to pass after ten days, that the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah.” What?! Ten days?! In today’s world, modern people are accustomed to demanding and getting instant answers. Patience and waiting on the Lord to REALLY answer is almost unheard of. But Jeremiah waited! In the face of real urgency, he waited until the Lord gave him an answer.
That blesses my heart. God may tarry before He gives an answer to our prayers (even urgent prayers.) It is in HIS time, according to His plans for us, not ours for ourselves. This goes back to what Rachel shared. “Blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14. And learn patience.
The days of the week? I don’t actually have a favorite. Sunday is a blessed and holy day, very precious to me, and all the other days compose life itself. I love life because Jesus fills life! :-)
Foods? Again, no real favorites. Whole, healthy foods taste delicious to me. I guess homemade no-knead Artesian olive bread with Irish Gold butter, and homemade, sugar-free, frozen-banana ice cream are two that are high on my list. ;-)
I didn’t see until I left my comment that we used the same verse! Your thoughts on waiting for the Lord’s will and then obeying it were really a blessing. And the foods you chose sound delicious! :)
Sheri!!! Your comment was such a treat and blessing to read.??? THANK YOU! Your words on waiting reminded me of a FAVORITE verse from Isaiah 30:18 where it says:
“And therefore will the LORD wait, that He may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: BLESSED are all they that wait for Him.”
We are blessed when we wait on Him and He is exalted in the wait! Aren’t you thankful the Lord works according to His perfect plan and in His perfect time…. not ours? Praise the Lord for that!!??? So thankful for a gracious Sovereign Savior!
Wow, wow, wow!!! Rachel, I LOVE your verse from Isaiah 30! As many times as I have read the Bible, that verse has not jumped out at me. I looked it up in my Bible, and I don’t even have it highlighted, but it is beautiful! I love it in context too. Isaiah 30:15 says: “For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.” AND YE WOULD NOT! Like a dagger to the heart! Then the Lord pronounces judgment against them for rejecting Him, and then comes your beautiful verse of GOD’S WAITING, in order to be gracious to them! It makes my heart melt with sheer amazement and joy over our wonderful God! He is so gracious and loving, yet He judges sin because He is Holy. I wouldn’t want Him any other way! Because He is completely Holy, He can be completely trusted.
Yes, I am glad the Lord condescends to work out His plan through our lives. With His infinite knowledge and His overall view of time and history, we are in the best hands possible! :-)
Isn’t it an amazing verse? The Lord took me to it just when I really needed it several years ago. That verse from Isaiah 30 been one that has encouraged me over and again since! It is amazing how you can go over the same passage a 1,000 times and find something “new” each time. His Word is LIVING and ACTIVE! I love how you mentioned the precious verse and the reminded that because He is holy He can be trusted. And yes, I have the same heart melting joy! *Happy Heart*!???
Yes, God’s Word is living. When the Holy Spirit teaches from His Word, it is truly magnificent and never boring!
For a few years, I studied the Bible 3 to 8 hours a day. I was reading through it every 3 months. The brethren in the Bible became as real and dear to me as any living humans. I walked and breathed Bible.
During that time of intense learning, the Word of God never became stale. He was daily teaching me new things, or rather, things that all inter-connected and began to weave into a whole picture with Jesus woven throughout.
That continued until I was diagnosed with cancer in 2014. An operation and long recovery broke into my reading time. When I got back on my feet, I was diagnosed again with a different cancer, this time inoperable. So, I went through 12 weeks of radiation therapy, which left me unable to stay awake to read or study for hours at a time.
The bottom line is, the Bible doesn’t get old. I still read and study it with great joy and anticipation. And the Lord is still teaching me!
It is the living Word of God. And always will be.
Amen! ??? I love your testimony of that truth. And thankful to have you here today sharing it with us!! ❤️
Umm, favorite day?? Sundays are a blessing to me as a day set aside for the opportunity of rest and extra time focused on the Lord; and I like Mondays too, which sounds crazy, but I enjoy the fresh start of a new week.?
Too many favorite foods…healthy smoothies, coffee, salads, strawberry anything…??
This verse was has been a blessing to my soul this afternoon:
Ephesians 2:10
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Blessings to you, Rachel!
Those cupcakes look so very yummy!?
Happy Thursday! And yes, this day has been a day of seeing the Lord’s goodness, mercy and love! Praise Him!!❤??
OoooooH!! I love Mondays toooooooo. ?? Not many do but I usually find them energizing. Glad you chose coffee as one of your favorites! ???
“which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Praise the Lord for that!! Thank you for sharing that wonderful verse, Jill! So thankful your day has been a day of seeing the Lord’s goodness, mercy and Love!! ???
Some verses from my reading today are: “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 4:17-19
I’m so thankful that God does not want us to live in fear, but He puts His peace and love into our hearts!! With Christ’s record applied to our own through redemption, we do not need to live in fear.
I would say that Sundays are my favorite day of the week, but Wednesday may be just as high right now!! We have been having a family weenie roast most Wednesday evenings this spring, and they have been so enjoyable. As far as food, one of my all time favorites and something that I get cravings for is mac and cheese. :)
Bethany, that is neat that we both used the same verse. :) Jesus is the vine; we are the branches. We will have some of the same characteristics and thoughts — His characteristics and thoughts. Your family weenie roast sounds like fun! What wonderful memories you are making.
Amen!??? I am so blessed by your favorite portion of scripture for today and the truth you shared!!
“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15
Those weenie roasts sound so fun!!! If I bring s’more fixings can I come join the fun??? ????
