Spring100 MILE LOG

“Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.”
Proverbs 4:26-27

We have successfully completed week 8 of the Spring100 by God’s grace and entered into week 9!! We are so close to having that Spring100 finish line in sight.? Keep on going strong y‘all! ?? Tonight I was praying about what verses to share on this post and the Lord literally rolled Proverbs 4:25-27 right in front of me, “Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.” I love the exhortation found in these verses, SET YOUR EYES STEADFASTLY ON THE FINISH LINE/Christ Jesus, PONDER THE PATH OF THY FEET, and DON’T GO OFF COURSE! As we trek through this race of life, these exhortations are priceless if we hope to run with endurance!?‍♀️?‍♂️ We are going to be tempted to take our eyes off the finish line, to remove our gaze from our Prize -Jesus Christ- and put it on worthless pursuits and pleasures! We are going to be tempted with distractions and diversions when it comes to digging into God’s Word which is our roadmap in this life race, and the temptation to go off course and take a “broader-easier path” will come our way. BUT what does God’s Word say? We are commanded to set our eyes on Jesus[Hebrews 12:2], focus fully on His Word[Psalm 1 says it is to be our meditation and delight DAY AND NIGHT] which will illuminate our path[Ps 119:130, Ps 119:105], and stay on the narrow course[Mat 7:13-14]! For those who do this, they are called BLESSED! “BLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. BUT his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate DAY and NIGHT. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” [Psalm 1]!! This week, I want to encourage you all to memorize Proverbs 4:25-27 and take time to pray Psalm 119:33 & Psalm 17:5 before or during your Spring100 walks/runs, “Order my steps in Thy Word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” “Hold up my goings in Thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.” May the Lord richly encourage you in His Word for week 9 of the Spring100! That is my prayer this week for each of you. ?? ?Happy walking/running y‘all!! ??‍♀️

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Matthew 7:13-14

About Rachel

"Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." Isaiah 1:18-20

  1. I have not been able to walk everyday, so I take longer walks when I get outside.
I run in spurts during my walks to increase my mileage, and I put my phone call time to good use by pacing our driveway :)

    1. Greeeeeeeaaaaaat idea about putting those phone calls to good use, Tisha!! ????

Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.- Ps 104:1

  2. I usually walk or run every day (except most Sundays, because that’s the only day I don’t work out).
Tips for those who are behind:
    1. Make it a priority. Force yourself to do it every day. Make it something you must do each day. I know, some days you just can’t get to it. That is ok. Make it up the next day though, or as soon as possible, so it doesn’t pile up. :)
    2. Walk faster. :D Or run. ;P This helps it not take so long which is especially helpful if you are pushed for time.
    3. Go farther than 1.1 mile a day. This way you can afford to miss a day here and there and not get too behind. It also helps you catch up. If you walk 2.2 miles a day for a week you can make up a whole week of missed walking!! (P.S. 2.2 miles only takes about 40 minutes to an hour).
    4. Regularly take time to assess where you are (how many miles walked) in terms of where you should be. It doesn’t have to be complicated either, but make it detailed enough you don’t forget when you walked what miles. :)
    5. Turn anything possible into an opportunity to “get miles”. ;P For example, my two older brothers just moved out a couple weeks ago. It’s only about 1.1 miles down the road from us on another part of our farm. One of my brothers plays piano and so he took his nice piano with him (obviously lol), but my younger siblings needed to practice still. Several times us girls have walked down there and let my sister practice. She gets miles, we get miles, and she gets piano practice.
And super sorry for the really lllllllllllllllooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggg comment! Just really want to encourage everyone who is a little behind not to give up!!!!! You can do it!!!!!! :):):)

    1. I LOOOOOOOOOVE your really lllllllllllllllooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggg comment, Rahcel!!!!! ??? You gave some FABULOUS tips. I love #2. I can easily forget to pick up my pace but when I do, I can do nearly twice as much! ?‍♀️?‍♀️ AND #5!!!!!!!!!! Yes, that is sooo good. Way to go Rachel! Keep it up!!

He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.-Ps 104:13

  3. I am trying to walk every day about 5 miles, weather permitting, where I live. I also try to hike in the mountains around our house. If I miss a day I don’t stress about it. Just have fun and enjoying God’s beautiful world. ♥️

    1. Great tip, Barbara! Missing miles or getting them for the Spring100 is definitely not something to get stressed over. Commit your time to the Lord and He will direct your steps! Thank you for that great reminder.???

O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.-Ps 104:24

  4. What has helped me is realizing just how little time 10 minutes are. Even on a busy day I can usually spare 10. I set a timer for 10 minutes and walk until it goes off and just like that I’ll have gone a half mile! That usually leads to me realizing how easy it was and just doing another set to finish out a days’ quota. This next tip might sound funny, but I try to get at least 1/10 mi. in so I can record something for the day. Every 1/10th counts! It makes more progress than logging “0”!

    1. I love your tip on just setting a goal to grab a certain amount of time each day, Esther! It is so very true, something is better than nothing and those smaller portions of a mile do add up. Continue the wonderful work!! And thank you for the encouragement.?☺️

Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.-Ps 104:30

  5. With my schedule and home life I can’t expect to walk every day. I never count on Sundays, although we have got a few Sundays walks in, and usually there’s at least one other day I can’t. So I usually do at least two miles every time I walk. My tip for those behind, (Including me) is to walk more than 1.1 miles a day even if you go every day. that can be so huge if you have to miss a day or two. Great job on week 8 everyone!!!

    1. Good idea on “stocking up” on extra miles for the days you can’t get out and walk, Heidi!! That is something I try to do too. ? It leaves more room for the unexpected that often comes our way and hinders us from getting out every single day.???

The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works.-Ps 104:31

  6. Gita and I have been walking three miles a day together for years. We have good walking shoes, (a must for dedicated walkers), and a walking schedule that we stick to. We walk afternoons in the cooler months, and evenings in the hotter months. We also stay accountable to each other and encourage each other to just keep on keeping on.

Gita walks seven days a week, and I walk six. Since I drive to her house for our walks, I don’t walk on Wed. because of our evening church service. Many days are inconvenient or hard for me. Too cold, too hot, too nice. You name it. It just takes dedication and perseverance. It’s like anything that is important to you. You make up your mind to do it, even when you don’t want to.

I’m 66 years old, and I’ve battled cancer twice since 2014. Gita had cancer once, several years ago. We just know that walking is an important part of staying healthier and more productive to glorify God.

Coming from behind is hard, but if you push and push, there is nothing more thrilling in a race than seeing a runner coming up from behind to win the race! And just think how good it will feel to finish it!

    Finishing is winning.

    1. Wow, Sheri!! Your comment encouraged me greatly. ❤️ I love the idea of accountability a walking partner provides! “We just know that walking is an important part of staying healthier and more productive to glorify God.” YES!!!!!! That reminder is just perfect! We don’t do it to look great or be the most fit person in the world but to be good stewards of the bodies and health the Lord has given us. Thank you for the encouragement and testimony of God’s faithfulness in your life, Sheri.

I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.-Ps 104:33

  7. Yay!!! There’s been so many good ideas to help those who are catching up. I know the hardest part is usually just finding the time to get it done. Going on several short walks when you have some spare time can be helpful. In between activities, just go out and get a lap. Or, maybe you could plan to get up about 15 minutes earlier and get in a quick morning walk. That can be especially nice if you live somewhere that is getting warm by afternoon. There’s still time to catch up and get it done!! Last year I had to do 17 miles the last week to get finished, but it was well worth the time and effort! Just don’t give up!!

    1. I think you nailed it with your last sentence, Bethany! “Just don’t give up!!” Amen. ??? THANK YOU for the tips!! I like your idea of grabbing a walk inbetween activities. That is something I will do midway through my workday just to get my blood pumping and grab a little fresh air for the remainder of the workday. ?☺️

My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.-Ps 104:34

  8. When I’m able to hike, will get many miles in. Will walk more often(days) when walking in neighborhood, track or walking paths.
I’m a morning person so I like to get my walking miles in early. Otherwise time slips away and my walk is missed for the day. So my advice if having difficulty, is to figure a time that works best for you and ‘schedule’ your miles as part of your day.

    1. “A time that works best for you and ‘schedule’!” YES. Very important! For someone like me, I have to get out first thing in the morning or my chances of getting a break is nearly non-existent. So I make a point of getting before breakfast. Your tip is definitely one worth putting to practice! ❤️ Thank you!!

Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the Lord, O my soul. Praise ye the Lord-Ps 104:35

  9. I usually walk a mile or so each day, but there are some days where I get a bit extra in to catch up for previously missed miles :D Like everyone else has said, just keep going! You can make it to the finish line!!

    1. ??? Love your encouragement!! Thank you, Mary!! ?

O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.-Ps 105:1
