Of Chili, fall, and rejoicing | A Random Post :)

The chili is on the stove top boiling{filling the house with a rather delightful aroma}, the jalapeno are stuffed, the little people just left for a walk with my dad, and dinner isn’t for another hour so I thought “why not a random post”?! :) Plus I am miraculously getting internet connection in a room that doesn’t usually have it so it must be providential!! ;) {posting may be delayed do to the fact I forgot to steam the rice}. Yes, I do love fall evenings at home!! Today was only a half-work day and I was able to come home and kid-sit Emmi & Bekah for the remainder of the afternoon while my parents got some work done. Enjoyed sunshine, very cool weather, and two crazy girls! It was a wonderfully blessed Fall afternoon. :)

Today I was reminded of Habakuk 3:17-18 by my Kansas friend{THANK YOU!! :)} It is so extremely easy to rejoice and be joyful when everything is going “grand” but what about when the “fig tree” doesn’t blossom? “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” This is something the Lord is teaching me to do this last year. Thankfully He is very longsuffering ’cause I am a very very slow learner! ;) So today, I want to encourage y’all to rejoice in whatever circumstance you are in and take joy in where He has you right now! He is your strength! Andddddd continue to seek HIM diligently. I am reminded in Psalm 9:10 that the Lord has not forsaken those who seek HIM! I am amazed at His goodness and constitutionally reminded of Nahum 1:3{a favorite verse} “The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.” Now I’m off to eat dinner! Y’all enjoy your fall evening. :)

“The Lord is good unto them that wait for HIM, to the soul that seeketh HIM.”
Lamentations 3:25

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto God the Lord belong the issues from death.”
Psalm 68:19-20

About Rachel

"Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." Isaiah 1:18-20

  1. Love your post Rachel! It looks like your day was as beautiful as ours, and I’m happy to hear about it and see a peak! Aren’t God’s blessings just poured around us – we just need to look around and thank Him for them! What a merciful Father we have. Let us rejoice constantly in His blessings, which are new everyday. “I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
P.S. Is your new shop almost complete?
P.P.S. Your food makes me hungry!

    1. Thank you, Sarah! :) Poured on us every minute of the day. We take most of His blessings for granted! Such as every breath breathed, every heartbeat, ever step taken. They are all tremendous and miraculous blessings from God! Give Thanks! :) “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

P.S. YES!! We are moving in this weekend!! :)
P.P.S. I think I might eat too much with all the food pictures I have. ;)

  2. Hello Rachel with your post made me remember even the smell…Oh how I miss the chili flavor unique and spicy, I can’t find the same flavor down here in Mexico, Do you happen to have the recipe or recommend any … Thanks a lot :)

    1. Hello Lucy!! :) I actually don’t have an official recipe. I’ve watched my mom make chili for so many years that its second nature to me now. :) I doubt my chili has an authentic flavor but I add lots of cumin, chili powder, garlic, oregano, cilantro, paprika, salt, pepper, and usually tabasco for the spice. I don’t measure, just kind of “eye” it… :) Wish I could be a little more helpful!
      Have a fantastic day, Lucy!!

        1. Yes! Please do let me know how it turns out. I am still wanting to get a deeper chili flavor and know i must be missing something!! :)

  3. Thanks for sharing those moments of life ! I was wondering : when you say it’s a half work day, do you spend this time working at a special location or you’re able to work at your house (since you didn’t move in the studio yet !)
    Have a blessed day !

    1. Hello Marie! :) Though we have always been able to keep our work home, we moved last year and the house size wouldn’t accommodate our production size. So we had to rent a facility while the construction of our new shop was being done! So excited to get moved back home! :)
      Have a wonderful day!!

  4. “He is your strength” …Just had another friend remind me of this with this verse this morning…”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 He truly is our strength, our very life…

Love the top picture of you and your two little sisters…so adorable. Great post!

    1. Yes it is sooo true and that verse so perfect!! He alone is our strength and He is an everlasting strength. Praising Him for that!

Thank you! :) My 10 year-old brother wanted to take a picture and we became his subject! ;)

Leave a comment and make my day! :)
