Luck? I don’t think so…

{forgive the 2 posts in 1 day. Keeping everyone updated is keeping my blog very very active! ;) Posts should slow down a bit :)}

“Lucky to be alive” is what the doctor told my dad for the 3rd time today{the doctor didn’t expect him to be alive today seeing the shape he was in when he came into the hospital 48hrs ago!} Luck? I don’t think so…. God’s mercy and grace? Definitely! And the faithful prayers of so many. The cardiologist arrived today shortly after my siblings & I left to grab some things from home. Since we had a 45 minute drive, my mom thought it would be a good time for my Dad to get some rest{13 people in 1 hospital room can be quite tight.} So we said goodbye  and  expected to go back to the hospital after a few hours at home.  Then my Dad called. The cardiologist came in and, to all of our surprise, first told him he was “one lucky man” and then told him there was no damage to his heart!!!!!  Then she also told him he was free to go home!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, imagine our shock when he told us. :) He is home safe and sound, resting! Wow, didn’t think I would be able to say that so soon! Shocked? Yes!!! Thank you all for your prayers! God is good, even if this had ended as the doctors and several others told us it usually does and should have, God is still good and His mercy truly does endures forever!  Though very tired, we are so thankful to the Lord and giving Him praise! I laugh because a few posts back{here} I mentioned “I am always faced with hurdles/small trials {sometimes big} in every week”. Well, this week held a big hurdle and I praise God that “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”! He gave the strength to overcome and yes, His grace & goodness continue on!

My father{and family} sincerely thanks you all for your outpouring of prayers and encouragement! You all have been such a blessing to us. :)

“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.”
Isaiah 54:10

My Dad thought a family picture was in order. :)

About Rachel

"Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." Isaiah 1:18-20

  1. Praising the Lord with you, Rachel, on behalf of God’s great mercy and blessing in healing your father. The Lord is a constant protector and provider in all of our lives, and these sobering situations help us remember just how GOOD He is to us daily! So thankful for your family that your dad is back home safe and sound. And the family picture idea was excellent. :)

    Psalms 147:1-2: “Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

  7. Rachel,
    What a joy to be able to read your post. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to comment sooner to let you know that I have been praying for your Dad and family. I saw this post earlier today, and have had the second verse of ‘Praise ye the Lord, the Almighty’ running through my mind.

    Praise to the Lord, who over all things so wondrously reigneth,
    Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
    Hast thou not seen how thy desires e’er have been
    Granted in what He ordaineth?

    The pictures are precious!

    1. I smiled when I read this, Christina! ‘Praise ye the Lord, the Almighty’ is the hymn we sang this morning for our bible time and the hymn has been going through my head all day! I am so thankful for you and your prayers! They mean so much to us!!

      Praise to the Lord, who hath fearfully, wondrously, made thee;
      Health hath vouchsafed and, when heedlessly falling, hath stayed thee.
      What need or grief ever hath failed of relief?
      Wings of His mercy did shade thee.

      Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
      Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee.
      Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
      If with His love He befriend thee.

Leave a comment and make my day! :)
