Where thieves break in and steal…

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21

I have always loved the above verses. (: God’s word is filled so full of truth & promises that I marvel when I am able to put an exact verse with an exact event happening at an exact moment(which is very often.) Getting to the point now,  I won’t be able to post the promised “real pictures” of our trip to the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival(which I was VERY excited to share with y’all)… Actually my photo blog may just go dormant for a while! :( Why? All my camera equipment has been stolen. Since we were at the SAICFF, I had my camera, 35mm lens, 50mm lens, and memory cards(which just happens to be all my camera equipment) tucked away in my carrying case. I safely locked it in the van with the remainder of our possessions to enjoy a bit of lunch with siblings and a friend on Sunday afternoon before heading home. After finishing lunch, I noticed the driver’s side key entry had been smashed-in and upon further examination, my camera bag was gone…. :( Quite a shock for me and at the moment I feel as if my right arm is missing (If you are a photographer you know what I mean.)  God is till good! He is sovereign and I am thankful. So, until I am able to figure out how to round up the money to replace my equipment, my blog may be silent. I pray it will be very soon and know God always provides in His perfect timing. And today, I am counting my blessings and so thankful for the reminder that moths and rust do destroy, and, yes, thieves do break in and steal. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

So I leave you with one question: where are you storing your treasures?

“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5

About Rachel

"Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." Isaiah 1:18-20

  3. NO! I can’t believe it!!! I want to cry! I love that camera in your hands so much. Rachel…if it was me and my camera…yeah. Anyway. I agree with the others. You are so faithful to praise our Father always. How you shine, Rachel…what a blessing you are. HUGS!

    1. Don’t cry, Sage! God is faithful and sovereign. (: He allowed this for a reason and His ways are perfect. If I shine it is only because of Christ in me. Nothing I have done but what He has done in me! Sending a virtual hug your way!! :) And thank you, for your kindness and encouragement. Your comments always bring a smile to my face. <3 " Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!" Philippians 4:4

        1. Dear Sage,

          Much love,
          Rachel ;) Revelations 5:12 <3

  4. I missed this post in my reader, I guess because there was no incredibly gorgeous photo as usual, but Sage emailed me and asked me if I had read your post about your camera being stolen. I am so sorry! I lost a lot of my photos when my computer crashed that I did not have backed up, it’s sad, but it also reminds us of how temporary things are…I always think of Job…”The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, Blessed be the name of the Lord.” I don’t know how we would think about all of this, if we didn’t have the Word to guide us in how we should view things. His grace is sufficient and He will supply all your needs. Which includes the need to give everything to Him…seems like we always have to come to that place. And somehow I know that He will restore what you have lost, but you really haven’t lost because you have been faithful in giving Him the glory.

    1. Thank you so much. Any faithfulness in me is only because of CHRIST in me. I was mentioning Job 1:21 to a friend earlier. “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there: the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” God’s Word is so powerful! It has proven itself to be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path over and over and over again. :) So today, amidst the rather large financial/personal loss of the equipment and the pictures, I do not worry but rejoice. God is faithful and will provide in accordance with His will. What more do I need? (:
“Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.” 1 Timothy 6:6-8

  5. So sorry to hear about the loss of your equipment, Rachel. Your attitude about it is a blessing to see. I know God has His reasons for this.. Maybe the thief with come to Christ through it all! :)

    1. Thank you, Sarah. The good news is the bag that was stolen contained both tracks and a bible!! Praying the Lord uses both to bring the thief to Him. :)

  6. So sorry to hear about this!! :( wow I would feel like my right arm was cut off too. God definitely has a plan though, and He was in control of the whole situation. Please keep posting instagram photos or something tho! I enjoy keeping up with your blog.

    1. Thank you, Hannah. :) Yes, He was most definitely in control of the entire situation. I look forward to, one day, seeing the entire “picture”! Lord willing, I will continue to post as long as I have something God-glorifying to post! (:

Leave a comment and make my day! :)
