Independence Day | Righteousness exalts a nation

“Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a reproach to any people.”
Proverbs 13:34

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

The blood of over 55 million babies on our hands, homosexuality runs rampant{1 Cor 6:9-11}, blasphemy and adultery are considered common place, and excessive government is the norm. This is the USA! No, I don’t think this will be an extremely popular post especially on such a festive and highly celebrated day as Independence Day but the truth often times is unpopular and in all humility I feel this is a necessary post.
“The upside down U.S. flag is an official signal of distress.” We, as a people of this nation, have relinquished the independence so graciously granted to us by God over 200 years ago in order to fulfill our own selfishness & lusts. We, as a nation, murder{sacrifice} 9 children every 4 minutes by abortion{Psalm 106:37-38}, we are $16 trillion in debt{Proverbs 22:7}, and we openly embrace fornication & homosexuality{Jude 1:7}, calling evil good & good evil{Isaiah 5:20}. Our nation will face judgement for it’s bloodshed & idolatry{“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap” Galatians 6:7}. I believe it is safe to say we are a nation in great distress and the upside down flag is fitting! We, as a nation, celebrate Independence day tomorrow; picnics are commencing, fireworks are being purchased, and the spirit of patriotism is shining bright. But perhaps July 4th should be a day for true Christians to put on their “sackcloth & ashes”{Daniel 9:3-7} and, with truly repentant hearts, get on their knees and cry out to The Lord for His mercy on our nation. Instead of the sound of the battle cry for independence from Great Britain that was once heard so long ago, it is time to hear the battle cry of God’s people humbling themselves & praying for repentance as a nation. Take time to pray with me for our nation on July 4th and not just tomorrow but every day! “For with God nothing will be impossible.”{Luke 1:37}! Then get up and take action!! {Isaiah 1:17}{Prov 24:11}{Ephesians 5:11}

“The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.”
Psalm 34:17

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9

“And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”
Matthew 23:12

About Rachel

"Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." Isaiah 1:18-20

  1. Praise The Lord! Amen! Let repentance start in our hearts this day! Let “Christians” everywhere repent of their silence and fear in the face of evil!!!

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1Timothy 6:12

  2. Heart breaking lamentation for what we have lost…do we really know the extent of our disobedience to our Father. It’s going to take humble prayer, but it is also going to take what Peter said, ” We ought to obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29

I would imagine that a lot of Christians pray the prayer in 2 Chronicles 7:14, and feel that they have turned away from their wicked ways, but there are many things that Christians do today that do not please God…all the things you spoke of above, and more.

I’ll have to continue my thoughts on this comment later…Great post, Rachel!

    1. but there are many things that Christians do today that do not please God…all the things you spoke of above, and more. ” Amen! So very true and so extremely heartbreaking. We are His chosen people -THE bride of Christ- & our bodies are the temple of God yet we cling to so much sin…. I will look forward to your continued thoughts. I always am blessed by them!
